Chetana ek jatil aur bahupahluviy vishay hai, jiske kai arth aur paribhashaen hain. Aam taur par, iska tatparya hai:
- Jagrukta (Awareness): Apne aap aur apne aas-paas ke vatavaran ke prati jagruk hona. Ismein sanson, bhavnaon, vicharon aur aaspas ki sthitiyon ka gyan shaamil hai.

Chetana ki paribhashaen:
- Darshan mein: Chetana ko aksar man aur sharir ke beech sambandh se juda mana jata hai. Kuchh darshanikon ka manna hai ki chetana ek bhautik prakriya hai, jabki anya ka manna hai ki yah ek abhautik entiti hai.
