What are the various types of houses?
There are many different types of houses, each with its own unique characteristics. Here are some of the most common types:
A detached, stand-alone residential building meant for one family. They usually have yards and direct street access.
A unit within a larger building, typically with multiple units sharing common areas. Ownership can vary (rental vs. condo).
A multi-floor house that shares one or two walls with adjacent houses in a row. Often has a small yard and individual entrance.
Similar to an apartment but owned rather than rented. Owners share responsibility for common areas.
Residents own shares in a corporation that owns the building. They don't directly own their unit but have a lease to occupy it.
A building divided into two (duplex), three (triplex), or four (fourplex) separate living units with separate entrances.
A prefabricated structure built in a factory and transported to a site. Often located in mobile home parks.
A small, self-contained dwelling, often less than 400 square feet. Can be on wheels (movable) or a foundation (permanent).
